Natural gas prices are the highest ever reported in almost fifteen years, and your power bill may be feeling it. In central Florida, many homeowners have switched to solar energy as an affordable and environmentally-friendly way to power their homes. But why has the movement caught on so strongly, and why is now the best time to invest in a solar system?
The Government Will Pay You Back to Buy Solar
If you buy or finance your solar panel system in 2022, then the Federal Solar Tax Credit can be applied when you file your taxes for this year. This means that that 26% of the total cost of your solar system will be applied as a Tax Credit when you files taxes for the year.
Of course, homeowners need to be aware that to take advantage of this credit, there have to be tax burdens owed on your taxes that the credit can be applied to.
Many Solar Companies Offer $0 Upfront Costs
“There are 0 upfront costs, you have fixed monthly payments, and eventually you end up owning your own power free and clear,” said Zach Crotty, Senior Director at Spartan Solar.
Having zero upfront costs and a consistent rate makes it easy for everyone, but especially first-time home buyers, to purchase a solar panel system.
The Price of Gas is at an All Time High
Natural gas prices surged this August to reach a 14-year high. While you may be feeling the effects of this already at the pump, gas prices also have a huge affect on your power bill. Making it no better time than now to lock in your monthly utility rate.
At PES Solar, the process is started by looking at a comparison of your usage and current power bill, and finding out how you can potentially get paid to provide power, says Chief Operating Officer, Chris Jensen.
It's Better For Our Earth
Electric companies use a lot of fossil fuels, so using solar panels eliminates some of that use. It's a 'greener' way to use power, because it's coming from the greatest source of renewable energy-- the sun.
It Isn't Just For Your House
The benefits of solar don't stop with just your home. Some companies offer solar installation on recreational vehicles, motorhomes, campers, vans, and golf carts too!
Solar energy is making it's way through central Florida, so take advantage of that tax credit, and get in touch with a local solar representative near you.
