REMINDER! All three recycling drop-off sites are open!
• The Avon Park site is open from 2-5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The entrance is at the intersection of South Prospect Avenue and Eddie Cannon Street in downtown Avon Park.
• The Sebring site is open from 2-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The site is at Max Long Field, off Westminster Road.
• The Lake Placid recycling drop-off site is open from 2-5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. It is at the corner of Hickory Avenue and West Royal Palm Street, near the railroad just off East Interlake Boulevard.
Residents will be able to bring items to the recycling centers only during the posted hours of operation.
All drop-off centers collect plastic bottles, jugs, and jars, steel and aluminum cans, clean flattened cardboard, newspaper, junk mail, office paper (not shredded) and other non-coated paper. A separate bin is available for glass.
Attendants at each site will be able to answer questions, help residents deposit the items that can be recycled, and make sure the items are deposited in the appropriate recycling containers to avoid contamination.
Plastic bags are not an accepted recyclable item and are not allowed inside the bins. They can be used to bring recycling items to the sites, and then be reused or thrown away in the trash afterward.
